The Role Thornton Tomasetti's Forensics practice is seeking a Vice President Forensic Civil Enginee r to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have experience in project management and technical execution for transportation, site / civil, traffic, roadway, parking, and utility projects. You will be expected to develop and manage clients, lead pursuits , and win work. Existing repeat clients in the forensics space (such as attorneys and insurance professionals) would be beneficial and considered . Position DescriptionYou will be working directly with a wide variety of clients, including attorneys, property owners, contractors, and insurance professionals, on a wide range of investigations and projects, which may involve: Emergency Response Stabilization and Repairs Field Investigations Engineering Assessment and Analysis Extent and Cause of Damage Code Analysis Design and Construction DefectsProfessional Standard of CareYou will be called to serve as an expert witness in various scenarios, including depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trials. Experience in such scenarios is a plus. We will support you should such matters arise. Responsibilities Project and Staff ManagementCollaborate with other groups, offices, and practices on work-sharing needs and opportunities. Acti vely l ead and manage project teams to meet overall project delivery objectives (project scope, schedule, budget, and quality management). Supervising, mentoring , and providing technical direction to junior engineering staff . Client RelationsLead and partner with other company leaders in building client relationships and other business development efforts for the department's growth. Lead general presentations within the industry and community. Serve as the primary client liaison and manage project team to deliver the scope, schedule, and budgets to completion and to the client's satisfaction. Lead client project scoping and contract negotiations. We will support you in business development activities such as conferences and events. RequirementsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering . Master's degree in Civil Engineering preferred. Professional Engineering (PE) License in at least one jurisdiction and the ability to obtain licensure in others ; NCEES profile is a plus Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience , with 6+ years of design experience Ability to write reports that clearly express engineering opinions and conclusions and support these conclusions/opinions with facts and sound engineering principles. Testifying experience preferred A self-starter who takes initiativeStrong leadership, project management, and organizational skillsStrong technical and analytical skillsRepresentation in industry organizationsCompensationThe rate for this position generally is$140,000-$230,000annually.This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the New York Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful New York applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in New York or perform the position from New York. Similar positions located outside of New York will not necessarily receive the same compensation.Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted byNew YorkEqual Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employee already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law. A potential new employee's pay history will not be used in compensation decisions.
