As an analyst in the Portfolio Management group at Amalgamated Bank, you’ll have opportunities to help track and manage loans to progressive and innovative projects led by clients who are striving for a more inclusive, just, and equitable society. This position will be hybrid with up to several day a week in the office (either our New York, San Francisco, Boston, or Washington DC offices) and the remainder remote. The credit analyst will work closely with senior portfolio managers and credit risk management in reviewing and analyzing financial statements, conducting due diligence, assessing credit risk ratings, writing credit approval memoranda, presenting recommendations to credit committee and monitoring, and managing the credit portfolio. Essential Job Functions:
Assist in preparing comprehensive credit memoranda narratives to support the proposed loans and analyze industry related policies, regulations, and risks and mitigants.
Perform covenant compliance tests, track the performance, and manage the portfolio of existing loans.
Assist in analyzing borrower’s financial position by interpreting, evaluating, and spreading financial statements, tax returns and projections.
Assist in evaluating financial models for non-profits, financial institutions, unions, renewable energy and/or energy efficiency projects.
Assist in preparing reports on the Bank’s loan portfolio for the department, senior management and bank examiners.
Help to track upcoming loan maturities and loan deliverables. Attend meetings and/or conference calls on renewals and modifications to existing loans, collaborating with relationship managers and members of credit risk management in preparing and reviewing credit memoranda.
Assist in early identification, classification, and management of impaired credits.
Assist in presentation of transactions to credit committee in support of approval.
Perform other transaction related and administrative duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field with proven academic excellence
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work on multiple transactions simultaneously and prioritize assignments to meet deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent team player
Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word
Previous credit underwriting and/or banking experience a plus
Experience or interest in working within the renewable energy space a plus.
Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting base salary for this role is between $70,000.00 – $80,000.00. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferrable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
