Join the talented, engaged and inclusive workforce dedicated to creating a better Minnesota.The position of Victim Specialist of the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives (MMIR) Office, under administrative direction is responsible for the direct services provided to individuals, families and community; support the community-level response to MMIR violence, awareness and prevention; effectively communicates with other service providers within Minnesota’s Tribal Nations, Bands, and Communities; federal, state, and local law enforcement; federal and state agencies; and community based organizations and advocates; provides victim services and resources; assists in developing and providing training on MMIR violence to the agency's staff, and to other agencies and professionals; assists in educating the general community on issues relating to MMIR violence; to work with other agencies to coordinate services and to prevent MMIR violence; and perform other duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsTo facilitate proper years of service crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.Three (3) years of professional experience in behavioral science, social services, criminal justice or related field.Professional experience to include the following:

Experience providing counseling or advocacy to persons with victimization issues or working in a social service capacity with a vulnerable community.

Experience in working with Tribal Nations and community programs.

Demonstrated administrative skills sufficient for facilitating, planning, and implementation of office strategic priorities and goals.

Planning, communication and presentation skills sufficient to coordinate advisory groups, education agency staff and external stakeholders; draft policy and procedures; draft mandated reports and legislation.

Demonstrate knowledge and experience to the criminal justice process, trauma informed crime victim issues and key factors perpetuation violence against Indigenous communities.

Computer Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs.

Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities.

Bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited school in behavioral science, social services, criminal justice or other closely related field as determined by the agency can substitute for one (1) year of experience.Preferred Qualifications

Strong relationship with Minnesota Tribal Nations and Bands.

Demonstrated knowledge of state systems and the legislative process.

Physical RequirementsRequires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others, and moving and transporting light objects frequently.
