Position Summary
  • Responsible for the mechanical testing associated with automated door product and accessory development.
Responsibilities
  • Hands-on laboratory skills including fabrication, sheet metal, electrical, electromechanical and mechanical systems
  • Analysis and testing of proposed product changes and new products or subsystems
  • Support Sustaining and Productivity projects or activities
  • Design of test fixtures using 3D modeling software or equivalent
  • Generate 2D drawings for test fixture component procurement
  • Perform accelerated testing using electric motors, pneumatic cylinders, or other methods
  • Aid with new product development or innovation initiatives by conducting testing or pilot builds
  • Documentation of test procedures, activities, reports, and other verification or validation activities
  • Organize and maintain test equipment and other laboratory tools
  • Document standard operating procedures and training information
  • Travel Requirements- minimal
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree with an Engineering focus and 5+ years experience in Mechanical Testing OR 10+ years experience in lieu of education.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic carpentry skills
  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Basic 3D modeling skills and 2D drawing experience to design test fixtures, Creo 4.0 preferred, Solidworks, NX, Catia, etc. will work.
  • Basic knowledge of PID based systems a plus, (Proportional Controller, Integral Controller).
  • Basic low voltage wiring and circuit knowledge a plus
  • Soldering or small mechanical assembly skills required
  • Hands-on mechanical assembly ability
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and basic machinery
  • Familiarity with UL Standards, BHMA (Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association).
  • AAADM (American Association of Automatic Door Manufacturers)certification.
