Maxar technologies, the leading provider of Earth imagery products, is seeking a Platform Engineer to join our Raster Data Access team in the product engineering organization. This team is based in Westminster, CO but the position can be performed remotely.Your project: In this role, you will join an accomplished team, actively working on Maxar's next generation image streaming, processing and machine learning platform backed by our 100 petabyte image archive. We utilize directed acyclic graph style batch processing to provide product optionality and system scalability. Through collaboration and teamwork, your mission will be to help expand our platform's capabilities, achieving low latency and high accuracy product objectives. Your focus areas will range from integrating object detection ML capabilities to automating all aspects of our build and deployment system. What you'll do day to day:- Develop and manage cloud native applications with AWS
- Adapt and integrate newly created computer vision models within our image processing workflows
- Automate the scalability of our applications using AWS capabilities and custom solutions
- Contribute to the the 'ilities' of your services: availability, maintainability, reliability, and securability. We focus on SRE-based principles
- Mature our solutions for fully automated builds and deployments
- Take part in team design sessions and sprint planning activities.
- Must =
- 2 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in a technical or related field. 4 years of experience may be substituted for a degree
- Proficient in Java; writing composable, easily testable, and maintainable code
- Familiarity with AWS, especially: S3, Fargate/ECS, & CloudWatch
- Versed in version control system best practices and automated build tools/strategies for Java apps
- Experience building out application monitoring solutions and taking part in an on-call rotation
- Enjoys working in a collaborative development environment (e.g. code reviews, paired programing, team design sessions, etc)
- Experience managing infrastructure as code with Terraform and/or CloudFormation
- Experience with Docker and related container management technologies
- Experience with image processing software
- Development experience utilizing Spring Boot and Spring Cloud
- Familiarity with ML based object detection software (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch)
- Development experience with geospatial software (e.g. GDAL/OGR, PostGIS, OAPIs, QGIS, GeoServer, OpenLayers, Leaflet, etc)
- Sound knowledge in architecting applications that leverage distributed computing
