Ragazzi Boys Chorus (www.ragazzi.org), San Francisco Bay Area’s premier choral organization for boys, seeks a detail-oriented and strategic Finance and Administration Manager.
Under the leadership of Artistic and Executive Director Kent Jue, Ragazzi provides exceptional education and performance opportunities for boys in the art of choral singing. Our growing organization serves over 230 boys and young men, ages 5-18, in 30 Bay Area communities. Ragazzi regularly produces its own concert series and collaborates with such prestigious ensembles as the San Francisco Symphony, San Francisco Opera, Symphony Silicon Valley, and Opera San Jose. Ragazzi is supported by fifteen teaching artists and five administrators. Our robust program includes a comprehensive theory program, sleep-away camp, and annual tours.
The Finance and Administration Manager (FAM) reports to the Artistic and Executive Director and is supported by a bookkeeper. The FAM is responsible for Ragazzi’s overall finances, human resources, and compliance. The FAM also oversees the information technology needs of the small office staff. The FAM will manage contractual relationships with the building owner, purchase office equipment, negotiate facilities for summer camp, and contracts related to domestic and international tours. When special events such as concerts arise, the FAM will manage ticket sales and other logistical tasks, in coordination with the Chorus Manager, Operations Manager, and parent volunteers.
Duties include:
-Oversee bookkeeping and accounting to ensure accuracy and timeliness
-Create and maintain annual budget for Board review
-Produce monthly financial reports for Board of Directors meetings
-Schedule, manage, and support the annual tax and audit process
-Maintain and archive Board of Directors documents
-Actively manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
-Actively manage and monitor cash flow
-In conjunction with the Chorus Manager, manage payments and reimbursements related to enrollment, camp, and tour
-Facilitate Financial Tuition Assistance Program (FTAP), organize documents, manage awards
-Work closely with the bookkeeper to highlight priority items such as payments due or customer finance-related inquiries
-Work closely with the Board Finance Committee and Board Treasurer
-Provide support for Development, prepare and submit finance-related grant materials
-Ensure employee policies are updated and communicated to employees
-Onboard new employees and maintain required records
-Ensure Ragazzi is up to date on any relevant compliance policies as it relates to its employees and the Ragazzi program
-Identify, recommend, and implement new compliance policies in coordination with the Artistic and Executive Director
-Oversee office information technology needs
-Other duties as assigned by the Artistic and Executive Director
Skills Needed
-Strong proficiency in QuickBooks (Desktop), MS Office suite, and Google Docs Editors suite (Sheets, Docs, and Slides)
-Strong proficiency in Excel and financial modeling skills
-Strong knowledge of accounting (non-profit finance a plus)
-Strong written and oral communication skills (including email/online, letter, telephone, and in-person formats)
-Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and as part of a collaborative team
-Proficient in learning new technology applications and systems
Strong candidates will possess the following preferred qualifications:
-BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, or Business, with at least 5 years of relevant work experience
-Exceptional client service orientation
-Ability to manage multiple tasks at once with poise and professionalism
-Ability to cooperate and collaborate with both internal and external constituents of diverse backgrounds
-Propensity to learn quickly and demonstrate curiosity, initiative, and drive
-Strong attention to detail and follow-through
-High degree of independence in managing projects
-Tact, discretion, and integrity in handling confidential information
-Appreciation and support for boys and young men in the choral arts
The FAM may be able to work remotely one day per week, but is expected to work the remaining hours at the Ragazzi office in Redwood City, and support evening/weekend events (such as Monday evening rehearsals until 8:00p, concerts, and special events). A background check is required. All applicants must be legally authorized to work in the US and are required to have US residency.
Compensation: 0.65 FTE, $50,000-$60,000 per year, depending on experience; 6.5 days paid time off; 10 Ragazzi holidays; and accrued sick time. An annual $4,000 stipend is offered in lieu of other benefits.
