Product Quality Technician

Quality Support (Merced, CA)

Reports To: Supplier Quality Manager

FLSA Status: Hourly

Summary:

The product Quality Tech is responsible for supporting the Merced facility by maintaining or improving overall quality of parts produced. This will include inspections, auditing, incoming parts and material inspections, improving processes as needed to support the production of quality parts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform inspections and defect analysis as needed to maintain parts quality.

Perform evaluations and inspections on supplier-related defects and communicate results to management.

Support corrective actions in the plant as well as with suppliers and assist in driving improvements

Support the development of inspection testing methods when needed to support production

Initiate improvement strategies, and participate in PPAP parts reviews, corrective action facilitation, and process improvements.

Provide timely internal and external communications on assigned projects to ensure appropriate decision making and reduced manufacturing disruptions.

Education and/or Experience: 3+ years working in a machining or manufacturing environment. Experience with primary duties in a quality position or other related quality, inspection, or auditing experience. Capable of using technical measuring tools, equipment, and devices.

Language Skills: (English and Spanish a plus) Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general drawings, prints, technical procedures, etc. Ability to write reports, correspondence and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, managers, employees, or suppliers.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical data, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis a plus.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills: Email, Excel, Power Point, Word, MS Project, a plus.

Additional Highly Desirable Skills, Experience, or Qualifications: Include Certificates, Licenses, Registrations and other skills/abilities/qualifications not listed above.

Machining, metal fabrication, welding, powder coating, or anodizing experience, ISO experience, Six Sigma, Lean, statistical analysis, AIAG training, leadership experience, presentation skills, Auditor training, or similar demonstratable experience.

Customer Focus: Support quality management team goals and objectives, including supplier selection, supplier certification, and assist in the development of new products through validation, inspection, or analysis of fit, form, or function as needed.
