The San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District is recruiting for a Network Systems Analyst I/II to fill the current vacancy assigned to the Information Technology Services department located in Fresno, California. The eligible list established as a result of this recruitment may also be used to fill future vacancies.

THE POSITION: The Network Systems Analyst I is the entry-level class in the professional information systems support series. Incumbents perform routine office automation analysis work including: determining system needs; installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining system hardware and software; conducting user training; and installing and maintaining local area networks. The Network Systems Analyst II is the journey level class. Incumbents will perform the full range of office automation analysis work and implementation including complex and sophisticated systems analysis and implementation.

QUALIFICATIONS: Level I: Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in information systems, computer science, or a closely related discipline. Basic knowledge of network systems hardware, software, and design is desired. Experience in the analysis, design, programming, or implementation of automated systems may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis to a maximum of two (2) years. Level II- In addition to the above, two years of experience equivalent to that gained as a Network Systems Analyst I with the District.

Qualified applicants must possess knowledge of: principles, practices, and techniques of information systems analysis, including hardware and software options; personal computer hardware and software, including local and wide area networking; principles and practices for efficiently purchasing, operating, maintaining, and repairing systems; AND skill in: analyzing office automation problems, formulating and evaluating alternatives, and making sound recommendations; troubleshooting, installing, and maintaining personal computer, local area network, and wide area network hardware and software; training user staff in the operation of new or revised computer applications; preparing written training and resource materials; preparing clear and concise reports, correspondence, and other written materials; making oral presentations; exercising sound independent judgment within general policy guidelines; and establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; experience and knowledge of analyzing, implementing, and supporting Geographical Information Systems (GIS) such as ArcGIS or similar programs.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid California Driver License and meet the automobile insurability requirements of the District. Must be able to attend work on a daily basis as scheduled.
